Welcome to my blog. As you might have guessed, it’s about running.
If you’re curious as to who I am, check out the “About Me” page.
But here’s the short version. I’m a guy in my mid-30’s, and I like to run. I’ve run on and off since my childhood, but I’ve finally hit my groove this year. I’ve learned a lot about how running works, I’ve become more deliberate about my training, and I’m hoping to train for a full marathon next fall – assuming there will be an actual live race to join.
Writing helps me understand things, and so in part I created this website to help understand everything I’ve learned about running. I’ll write a bunch about how to train, how to get better at running, and how to understand the science behind running.
I’m also an educator. I taught high school for 12 years before taking a job as a union organizer with an education union. So I have a natural inclination to teach things to others and try to explain them. I’m hoping that this website will help other people in a similar position as me – looking for help in becoming a better, more consistent runner.
Finally, this is a commitment device of sorts. I started my most recent bout of running in March of 2020. I’m still going strong, but all it takes is one injury or extended break to end a habit. So I’m hoping that by writing about running, I’ll keep myself committed in the long term.
I don’t know that I’ll always run as often or as far. I might finish my marathon next year, and never run another one. But I do hope that I continue to run, in some capacity, for many years to come. And I hope you will to.
So let’s get running.
